A Culinary Ride through Samegrelo

The Samegrelo region is famous for its distinct cuisine, especially its rich sulguni-style cheeses and hearty wines made in small, often family-run cellars. This private day trip from Zugdidi gives you a flavorful introduction to the local traditions, with visits to cheese producers, rural vineyards, and hidden cafés where you can enjoy a full Megrelian spread.

This is an easy-paced ride ideal for food lovers, couples, and travelers who prefer taste over tourism. Our driver will guide you to spots that avoid the crowds but deliver on flavor and friendliness. Pickup available from any address in Georgia.

Tasting of sulguni cheese and regional snacks

Local Cellars & Cheese Tastings

We’ll visit small-scale winemakers using both modern and traditional qvevri methods. Tastings include dry whites and bold reds, often served with fresh sulguni cheese, sometimes plain, sometimes smoked, braided, or served in khachapuri. You’ll also have a chance to meet makers and ask questions, translated by your driver when needed.

Relaxed Ride & Flexible Stops

Our routes are short and scenic, mostly in the lowlands near Zugdidi. If you're interested in trying a full Megrelian lunch, we can stop at a guesthouse or café. If you'd prefer just a wine-and-snack format, that's easy too. This is your ride, your pace.

Timing & Price

The trip takes 3 to 5 hours depending on how many stops you choose. Pricing starts at $95 per vehicle (up to 6 passengers). Wine and cheese tastings are paid on-site (typically $7–12 per person depending on the cellar).

Taste What Makes Samegrelo Unique

Sulguni cheese, strong dry wine, pickled greens, and cornmeal dishes, Samegrelo has its own culinary identity. This day trip is a great way to experience it without overplanning or overdriving. Whether you're local or passing through, we’ll make sure you leave satisfied.
