Ride Into Georgia’s Forgotten Frontier

The road from Sighnaghi toward Dedoplistskaro and Vashlovani leads into Georgia’s dry southeast, a land of windswept hills, crumbling watchtowers, and low scrub brush where steppe meets cliff. It’s the quiet side of Kakheti, far from the wine trails and closer to nature’s solitude.

This private 4x4 drive is ideal for travelers looking to explore beyond the usual path. You won’t reach the park’s deep interior (permits required), but you’ll get a strong taste of its scenery. Optional stops include the Vashlovani park office with information on wildlife and trails, or simply quiet moments among rock formations and wide horizons.

Southeastern Landscapes, Wide Open

Unlike the forested or vineyard-covered Kakheti hills, this route opens up to sparse ridges and flat open plains. The drive is about the space itself, occasional wild horses, abandoned hilltop churches, and the eerie quiet that comes with distance. Our drivers know where to pull over for safe photos and peaceful stops.

4x4 Comfort on Dry Terrain

The route is mostly paved with some rough sections. We use high-clearance 4x4s to manage the last few kilometers and dry-weather access roads. Vehicles are private, with space for 2–6 passengers, and driven by locals familiar with the terrain’s seasonal quirks.

Timing & Price

Expect 4.5 to 6 hours depending on how far you go and how many stops are included. Pricing starts at $140 per vehicle. Full entry into the park interior is not included, but we can help arrange it if you'd like a more in-depth extension.

See the Side of Georgia Few Do

Most travelers don’t make it past the vineyards, but this route shows a different face of Georgia: dry, rugged, honest. It’s not just for photographers or hikers, it’s for anyone craving space, silence, and sky.
